Fix Missing Desktop Wallpaper on Windows

1. Try Changing Your Wallpaper

If this problem occurred when you installed a certain program, please uninstall it and attempt to change your wallpaper once more. As an alternative of setting a static wallpaper, set your wallpaper as a slideshow. If it really works then change it to a static picture again. It’s also useful to try different images to make sure the problem isn’t caused by a corrupted image file.

3. Set Desktop Background from The Context Menu

4. Check Ease of Access Settings

Open the “Control Panel” app and go to “Ease of Access“. Click on on “Ease of Access Center” and click on “Make the computer easier to see“.

Scroll right down to the very bottom of the window, and ensure “Remove background images (where available)” is unchecked. If not, uncheck it and apply the change by clicking “OK“. Set a wallpaper on your desktop and it should work this time.

5. Check Power Plan Settings

Open the “Control Panel(CTRL+X, then P). Go to “System and Security” > “Energy Options“. Click on “Change plan settings” besides the current chosen plan. Click on “Change advanced power settings“.

Develop “Desktop background settings” and ensure the “Slide show” Setting has the value “accessible“. If not, set it to accessible and take a look at setting a wallpaper once more.
